There is a somewhat new discussion around  – it’s about the over-lap of, and confusion of, symptoms of Attention Deficit Disorder and Anxiety Disorder.  Many children are given medication for ADD or ADHD when the correct diagnosis is actually Anxiety Disorder.

You can google  ‘ADHD versus Anxiety Disorder’ and there is information there which may pertain to your children.  Adopted children are not necessarily singled out in the discussion, but adopted children innately can have more insecurity regarding their placement within their family and society in general. This can cause anxiety. There is more discussion now about this in adoption circles.  In reading the information, you can find out if it describes your family or not.  The comparison may give you an understanding of the differences and be very helpful in dealing with your child.
